Solo dates are like solo trips or gifting yourself. It is a form of self-love. But when it becomes extreme to the point where you marry yourself or pay your own bride price, that’s too much. I don’t like the extreme end of stuff.
Do you go for solo dates? I get this question a lot from female friends. And never heard it from my male friends.
I don’t know what the craze is with solo dates. I am yet to go for one, but I guess the male version of going for solo dates is going out alone to a club.
Going stag is quite common among men who go to pick up gals at the clubs. And trust me, there’s always something off about it. Anytime you’re out alone, The most common question or push back you will always get it is Why are you out alone?
It is good to have an answer. I personally see no problem with a solo date; I sometimes prefer doing things alone. I live alone, work alone most of the time, and plan my life alone.
Alone does not mean lonely.
However, no man can live alone; you will go crazy. At the same time, being out with friends all the time can be a drag. You need to cool down and meet up with some new people, so why not go out alone?
If you have to go out alone, you want to do it without looking lame. If you are just seated at the cafe all alone looking lost or depressed, it is not a good look.
If you are out alone with a laptop working in a cafe or reading a book, or on a video call with a friend, it is all cool.
Here are a Few Tips for Going Stag
Find a favorite cafe or club where you frequent and have a special on the menu. Make a few acquaintances there. Know the bouncers, the waitresses, and get yourself a treat. Always tip the staff so anytime you come over, you have a grand welcome.
Carry your tablet or laptop and do a few things as you wait for an order. Don’t look depressed nursing your drink alone in the corner.
Chat up the room if you’re a charmer or see the room. Say hello to the people sitting next to you. You can work the room if you’re feeling energetic. Just be in a jovial mood and enjoy the moment.
In case you are asked where your friends are, just say you felt like being left alone for a moment. At the same time, you don’t owe anyone an explanation for why you are out alone. It is your life.
It is a fun date to have; you can even hop on a video call with a friend and have a chat while doing your solo date if you are in a cafe. If you’re in a club, you can hit the dance floor and move your body with the rest of the people. You meet other people who also came out alone that way. You are not always alone out here; trust me, someone somewhere loves you dearly.
