How to Set Up a Perfect Valentine’s Date in Tough Economics Times

Times are hard out here, or wherever I am, the economy is in the toilet. Yet we’ve got to live. As a struggling artist or a young man scrapping by you can’t do something expensive for your woman. Your money is tight. If you want to impress your woman or make her, feel cherished in this month of love. You have to be creative with your dating. Don’t make it about money lest you come across as tightwad. At the same don’t fail to do something lest you come across as uncaring. Your girlfriend expects you to do something, as her female friends are being bought dresses and red hot heels and all kinds of spoiling, she can’t be seated there looking foolish.

I don’t run an alpha provider type of game or a conspicuous consumption type of game. You will never find me in a club popping expensive champagne surrounded by supermodels. I am not the man flying gals to Dubai or Diani for a shopping treat or the high roller spoiling gals with the latest iPhones. I am that guy with a strong frame making gals laugh and feeding them chocolates from the palm of my hands. That’s all I can afford most of the time.

On a serious note. I want you to re-evaluate your dating this Valentine’s. I don’t want you to be lonely and I also don’t want you spending a fortune for just a single day event. A candle-lit dinner is still the ideal date for me. However, that is me. You cannot do a coffee date for Valentine’s.

You can’t have a first date with a gal you are trying to date on Valentine. This is lover’s day my people. So what’s gonna be?

Find a restaurant with a band and some liquor and good food. That is a sweet place for a valentine’s date.

Flowers are cliché but they still work. Buy one if you want.

You can also find some good steak and good wine and cook a dinner together. It is another cliché idea that will work perfectly.

You don’t have to do something outrageous like a helicopter ride to the coast. An uber ride from her place to the date location will just work perfectly.

After the date, now is time for a gift. A good date + a thoughtful gift = great valentines

You can buy a nice dress or a bracelet or a necklace or even just a wrist watch.

A perfume or a box of chocolates or a love note.

There are already packaged gift humpers, if you don’t have an idea, I suggest you go for those. They are safe.

One thing with women is that they are very choosy or rather take gifts seriously so you want to tread carefully when picking a gift.

A good gift is something someone will use for a long time and remember you as long as they posses it. However, avoid outrageous gifts such as cars, expensive jewelleries or gadgets. Let the big boys with money to burn do that. Just keep it simple and cutesy.

Can you buy that woman a pet? Now you are thinking outside the box but that is a big risk to take. Does she have space for a pet or does she even like dogs and cats? I see world leaders gifting each other pets and I usually think it is a very cute gift.

If you were to get your chic an expensive chihuahua that goes for $2000 with all the immunization and food for the next 6 months, they can be very happy.

One of the most beautiful gifts I have ever received was a rabbit when I was young. I fell in love with that cute pet.

Can you buy your woman a spa treats? Find a spa and make an arrangement with them for a treat.

What if she wants to gift you back also?

It is good to accept it. Whatever she offers, take it with a big smile on your face and say thank you. Just be a good boy.

If she is a good woman there are many things, she can gift you like a good book on business. A nice pair of Nike or just a sweater. Whatever is within her budget, she can get it for you if you treat her nicely. Let it come from her. Don’t push for a gift and don’t turn it down either.

The number rule in gifting is not to push for a gift or turn it down when it is presented. Don’t make it a big deal. Don’t make it a big production. Just take it easy and enjoy your day.

Happy Valentine’s Lovers and friends!
