I came across this hilarious survey that ranked Kenyan men no 1 on looks in the continent. It seems we are easy on the eyes. Coming up closely from behind is Nigeria as expected. I expected Nigerian men to lead, I was surprised we got numero uno. Nigerians dress better and have more money or rather splash more cash than us. Nigerians and even our neighbors Ugandans dress for the club, they peacock a lot and thus appear more attractive.
If Kenyan men are leading purely based on looks, I won’t be so sure they lead in attractiveness too. Those two are different, we might be handsome but not sexy as compared to Nigerians or South Africans who came in at number 5.

I am not usually the best to judge men’s looks. I have said it here many times that I am terrible at telling if a man is handsome or not. I am 100 percent straight and don’t fancy men at all or rather I am looks blind. When I was reading articles about that survey of Kenyan men leading in looks, girls, and people would say some of our celebrities like Sauti Sol and comedian Erick Omondi are handsome. I was surprised that Erick is considered a fine chap. I have never thought of that but that’s because as I said I don’t look at men. Comedians are far from sexy but I guess if a man can make women laugh, he will look 10x times hotter. As for Sauti Sol, I was once watching a YouTube video of a Kenyan guy interviewing Africans from different countries on the streets on what they think of Kenyans and a certain lady from Namibia said Kenyan men are so hot because that’s where Sauti Sol comes from. I was amazed.
We have some real talent here in Kenya but whether our men look good or not is something I am not certain of. Kenyan men were also considered the most faithful in Africa in other surveys. It seems we got a lot of stripes.
I chuckle at such sentiments. How do you conduct these surveys, what’s the sample size and the methodology and data collection techniques, and the research variables? I bet you will find several flaws in these surveys if you look keenly. These are mostly opinion surveys are we thus take them with a grain of salt.
I am yet to travel to all African countries and spend enough time in each country to conclude that Kenyan men look the best. We look fine I would say, I won’t throw my nationality under the bus. It is said that if a man or a woman doesn’t like his kind, it is a major red flag. I like our Kenyan women, I don’t see anything wrong with them. I think Kenya has some incredible women. And I also like our countrymen, they are okay but we have to be a bit objective when saying some things like Kenyans are sharp or are the most beautiful. Even though beauty is subjective, there are objective standards of what make a person beautiful. There is no denying that Ethiopian women are beautiful or look good or south African women have big behinds and Nigerian men dress very well.
Kenyans speak well, we don’t have strong accents as compared to many Africans. We also have good humor, smile more, and are very outgoing. We are extroverted. These are things that might make us appear better in the eyes of other nationalities. Look at the airlines flying around Africa and to the Middle East and Europe and take a look at the flight attendants, the Kenyan flight attendants are very radiant from what I have heard. They smile well and bring a lot of money to foreign airlines who poached them from our local airlines.
Looks are subjective and something I usually don’t like dwelling on. I believe you can do more with what you are given genetically. You can make your hair look better, get your teeth done or skin tanned or body in shape, and improve your appearance.
Whether Kenyan men look good or not is a matter of opinion, they don’t look bad. You can always visit and meet some of them. I will be glad to hear about your experiences. I have never looked at them from that angle.
Nice weekend
